Many years ago, you could say that prayer just there changed my life. After three years without the sacraments, I wondered how to go to confession. Whether I should go at all. I didn&#8217;t feel prepared. There was a penance service. It was almost over. After a long time of hesitation, I went to the Mother of God. I prayed. I recited one Hail Mary. I told her that if I were to go to confession, that I would need her help.<br><br>I met a priest who was already finishing his duty. So I chatted him up for a while. The conversation &#8211; confession lasted three hours. A storm swept over us, but we were in a place where it was not dangerous. It was happening during the Jesuit Youth Days. One could talk about it for a long time. It was a very important experience for me. Such an experience of acceptance. The experience of knowing that God is. Even if I judged myself very badly, God still had a way to reach my heart so that I felt accepted, welcomed and needed in the Church. This is only so brief, and there are many more symbols, signs and evidence of God&#8217;s care in this story. The main thing is that I return to it with emotion, and the image of Mary, just from this shrine, is very close to my heart.<br><br>When the conversation-confession ended, it turned out that a friend of mine from the campground was coming, worried about what had happened to me. It was already about 1 a.m. It turned out that the rain had flooded us a bit. We had to move. She was about to sound the alarm for the whole camp. There were several hundred people there at the time. We just happened to run into each other as she was going with one priest, and I was coming back with the priest who had confessed me, so you could say that the Lord God was watching. There was no need to wake anyone up. I didn&#8217;t even think it would take that long.
