Sometimes the Word we receive from God is the Word for a new path. Sometimes the signs we receive confirming this Word are scattered in different places. I stand at the beginning of a long corridor of a homeless shelter and cry out:
– It’s time, it’s time to start a new life! \u00a0
The voice carries down the corridor. A packed man comes out with a bag, has two bags, gets into the car. Yesterday he found out that there was a place and a job and an apartment. He can’t believe it. He says
– You know what? Everyone in the shelter doesn’t believe me that such a place and such a job is there for me, it’s impossible, and yet! Yesterday we were together at mass, adoration. God works miracles!
When we are at the ticket office and the woman says:
– Well, but there are no more seats on this route.
– It’s okay there will definitely be some, it’s an important route and an important day,” I reply. The woman smiles. A homeless man from the shelter says:
– You know, look this lady in the diner wanted to give us free coffee, it’s amazing. And did you know that at the Christmas carol service I received a picture with the inscription: 'Raise your hand, God’s Child, and send abundant blessings. See and this happens to me. I’m really getting on this train.
– Yes. You know what, let’s open the Scriptures.
\u00a0The man takes out a small Scripture from his bag.
– Come, let’s pray with the Word of God and open it to your new path.
The man, after praying, opens it.
– Oh the beginning of the chapter! What to do? You know what? Maybe let’s try again. \u00a0
We are standing by the railroad tracks a train is about to come, we have a short while.
– Well let’s pray one more time. \u00a0Lord, give us the Word. Holy Spirit come to us. We are opening!
– Oh again the beginning of the chapter. In a word – a new chapter!
And suddenly this homeless man from the shelter says the words I will remember.
– You know what, this is the Word for me, after all I am starting a new chapter of life.
I was stunned. He couldn’t have put it better. God said something to him.
May JESUS be glorified in this man, in what happened, in those people who gave this boy a job and housing. Be glorified, Lord, in that you speak to us through the Scriptures and that you give us ears to listen to you.
